Public Safety – Police Funding – Transit Safety

July 23, 20250

Calgarians’ sense of safety is at its lowest point since 2010. Transit safety concerns have risen a staggering 1600% since 2020 while concerns about homelessness have risen by 350%. The majority of Calgarians feel that the police force is understaffed and the top suggestion by Calgarians to increase their sense of safety is to have more police visibility.

Protect Your Property: The number one crime in our Ward is property and vehicle theft. I will recommend increasing the resources for the Auto Theft Task Force (ATRT) to recover stolen items and protect your property and your livelihood.

Hire More Police: 2025 data shows that Calgary has only 148 officers per 100,000 putting us significantly below the Canadian average of 178 per 100,000 people. We simply need more police officers to properly protect our city, I will make this a priority.

Increase Presence on Transit: Transit isn’t safe. Assault, theft, drug usage, and harassment continue to rise in Calgary. We need to have police present to intervene before crimes get committed and we need zero-tolerance for disorder and crime.
