Calgary’s seniors deserve safe sidewalks, reliable transit, and clear support from City Hall. Too often, seniors face icy walkways, poor access to parks, and long waits for basic services.
Snow and Ice: After every snowfall, I will launch a 48-hour “Senior Safety Sweep” to clear sidewalks, crosswalks, and mailboxes. A “Snow Angels+” network of volunteers and vetted contractors will help those who cannot shovel.
Safer Routes: I will work with the Province and Park management to improve access to Fish Creek Park, add handrails and lighting, and repair dangerous sidewalks within a season. Benches and handrails will be added along senior walking routes.
Transit and Taxes: I will set targets for Access Calgary pickups and improve lighting, benches, and shelters near seniors’ hubs. My office will run “Benefit Checkups” to connect seniors with property-tax relief and utility support.
Home Safety: I will start small-grant programs for ramps and grab bars and launch annual “Safe at Home” checks with fire services and community groups.
