Statement from Landon Johnston: Ward 14 Deserves Better — I’m Running to Deliver Solutions That Work and the Leadership We’ve Been Denied
Calgary, AB — I’m stepping forward as a candidate for City Councillor in Calgary’s Ward 14 in the upcoming municipal election on October 20, 2025 — because enough is enough.
Like many of you, I’ve watched City Hall ignore the real concerns of our communities. I’ve seen decisions made behind closed doors while basic services fall apart. And I’ve had enough of being told to sit down and accept it.
When I started the recall petition against the mayor, it wasn’t because I wanted to be a politician — it was because I was tired of being ignored. That petition started as my attempt to have my voice heard. What I saw was thousands of Calgarians feeling the same frustration and standing up to say: we deserve better.
And when my own councillor told me, “If you don’t like it, why don’t you run yourself?” — I took those words to heart. That’s exactly what I’m doing. I’m running because the people of Ward 14 deserve solutions that work and responsible leadership that actually answers to them — not more of the same excuses and empty promises.
If elected, I will deliver practical, affordable solutions that improve daily life. I will fight to stop wasteful spending, demand real value for every tax dollar, and get back to delivering the services we count on — without constant tax hikes.
Community safety will be front and centre. I’ll push for stronger support for frontline police and fire, safer transit, and real action on crime that protects families.
Most importantly, I’ll bring the kind of open, two-way communication that builds trust. Government can’t work if it won’t listen — and I will listen. I will act.
I’m not running for a title. I’m running because like so many of you, I’m fed up with how City Hall operates — and I know Calgary can do better.
